La Cigale is a spacious, luxurious country villa set in 7.5 acres of beautiful, natural parkland. Set within the Luberon Natural Park, it is ideally situated within walking distance (1 km) of the medieval village of Lacoste and its famous castle dating back to the XI century. La Cigale has been completely restored with quality materials, with the rooms spread over one level, and has French doors opening onto the terraces surrounding the villa. The stone floors keep the house cool in the summer, and from the terraces there are breath taking views over the Luberon. On arrival, the automatic wrought iron gates open into the natural parkland with 200 mature trees and a Cypress-lined driveway to the front of the house.
La Cigale is surrounded by a delightful, natural garden with south facing terrace, stone fountain, "borie", "boule" court, and a peaceful, secluded pool, representing a haven of peace for those who wish to unwind, paint, read or go for long walks through the unspoilt countryside. Take your evening aperitif on the sun terrace in the middle of the field of lavender, and enjoy dinner on the subtly lit terrace, by the "borie", or under the trees in the grounds.
The sunny, spacious living room has a natural stone fireplace separating it from the elegant dining room. Both the living room and dining room are tastefully furnished in a mixture of Provencal and contemporary styles, with original artworks adorning the walls. The entertainment system offers British television and own-music streaming via AirPlay. The dining room leads through to the library, with a selection of books, to a wrought iron spiral staircase that leads to a delightful mezzanine providing a quiet space for reading.
The modern kitchen is fully equipped with Smeg appliances, including oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, refrigerator and coffee maker. All work surfaces are in marble, including a centre island, and there is plenty of crockery, glassware and cutlery. The wooden table and chairs is ideal for breakfast in the cooler months.
The three elegant bedrooms each have Queen size beds, and all open onto the stone terrace. The master bedroom has extensive views over the Luberon, and has direct access to the main bathroom, offering antique roll top bath and twin washbasins. The second bedroom opens onto the garden, and has direct access to a second bathroom boasting an in-ground Italian shower. The third bedroom provides direct access to the beautiful pool area. All bedrooms have Provencal style wardrobes and dressers, bedside tables and lamps, whilst the pool bedroom has a beautiful 18th century antique sofa.
A small study provides the facilities for work if needed, while the house is fully equipped with a high speed wireless network (for own laptop connection).
The villa is perfectly located to explore the many attractions of this spectacular region, including other hilltop villages within the Luberon Natural Park such as Gordes, Bonnieux, Menerbes and Roussillon, and towns such as Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, Arles, and St. Remy de Provence, as well as the famous weekly antiques market at L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.
Further afield, the city of Marseille is within easy reach, as are the Camargue and the beaches of the Cote d'Azur. The region boasts excellent wine cellars, with the vineyards of the Luberon, Cotes du Ventoux, and Chateauneuf du Pape also within easy reach.
